Serpent's Skull GM Item List

Thursty is a cool fool

As an added bonus to my previous post on starting up the Serpent Skull campaign, I wanted to post a quick list of items that I’ll be making use of for the campaign.  I’ll try to post additional updates as I add more items to the campaign, but these are my planned tools for now.

GameMastery Combat Pad -  The most important gaming device known to GMdom.  As I’m trying to avoid reliance on electronics for this campaign, tracking initiative/hp/effects on this pad will be a godsend.  I’ve used it in all my campaigns since picking it up, and I’ve picked up the second release just to ensure I have a backup.  If you don’t own this, get it now!

GameMastery Item Cards:  Serpent’s Skull Deck -  Hoping to take advantage of pretty pictures and item organization, I picked up the Serpent’s Skull item deck to supplement my already large horde of magic item cards (picked up on sale from Paizo sometime last year).  The Serpent Skull set contains some very specific items that relate to the campaign and region, so these were yet another ‘must have’ on the list.

GameMastery Condition Cards – I’ve yet to get a chance to use these in a campaign.  If these alleviate the numerous “what does shaken/stunned/staggered do to me” questions from players, then they are well worth the price!

GameMastery Map Pack:  Boats & Ships / Jungle / Ruins – It goes without saying that in an exploration based campaign set in the jungle, the PCs will likely trek through some unmapped regions involving at least one of these map packs.  Plus, everyone loves having more map packs in their possession.

Pathfinder Adventure Path #37:  Souls for Smuggler’s Shiv – It is hard to run an adventure path without the adventure!  While I have long owned the entire Serpent’s Skull adventure path, I thought it important to mention the first adventure here.  Hopefully when I get to the second adventure, I will do an update post along these lines that will include it.

Pathfinder Adventure Path:  Serpent’s Skull Player’s Guide – Written by that fine chap, Mr. Mark Moreland, this shiny booklet is more for the PCs than it is for me.  I’ve already had the players study this guide in-depth, with many of them optimizing their builds based on traits within the guide.  Note that this guide is a FREE download off Paizo.com and should be studied by both GMs and Players intending on going through the Serpent’s Skull adventure path!

Pathfinder Paper Minis:  Pathfinder Adventure Path #37:  Souls for Smuggler’s Shiv – At GenCon I had my first encounter with paper minis.  While none of my tables had any paper minis, I saw them used to great effect at the quick delves.  When I ran into Liz Courts again at PAX (I am stalking her after all), she started showing me the Serpent Skull minis that she had brought.  Being a consumer whore, I eagerly purchased the two sets for the Serpent Skull, and have included the first adventure set in this list as I intend to make great use of them.

So that’s the list of fancy doodads I plan on using for this campaign!  What is everyone else using in their games?
