So you want to know about me?

Well, I was born and raised in chilly Winnipeg, Manitoba—that’s in Canada for all you non-Canadian folks out there—in a family that consisted of me, my parents, and an older sister.  I grew up in French immersion schools but I don’t profess to be fluent in the language, instead I speak somewhat passable french. Grammar and spelling in french still eludes me… as does english, but that’s what editors are for! [Tip your editors folks]

At the age of eight I started getting into role-playing games when a wacky cousin of mine came over and showed me several D&D books.  A few weeks later I was down at the local game store and got roped into a game of Battletech down in the stuffy basement of the store.  From that point onward, I was hooked.

Following my escape from high school, I took on numerous jobs to enhance my skill set.  For three years I was an editor on the TenTonHammer network, working under the pseudonym Ratboy, where I managed their World of Warcraft sire and brief Warhammer Online site.  During this I also worked for a local call center, tackling support for a US based internet provider called Comcast. My duties in this job were to take calls from irate customers demanding to speak with a supervisor…  those are days I truly miss.

I later took on the role of Customer Service Manager & On Site Trainer for Skyline Aviation Software; a niche programming company located in Winnipeg that handles software for small to medium airlines.  In service to the company I traveled to regions like northern Canada, Dubai, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Later, I moved to work at Perimeter Aviation, one of Skyline’s clients, where I took on the role of IT Project Coordinator, handling technology related project management, ongoing maintenance of documentation, and (as with all IT jobs) numerous other duties as assigned. Due to company restructuring, I was let go in the summer of 2015 as the Perimeter IT team was outsourced to another company owned by the parent company.

Now, I’m trying to make it as a full-time freelancer. While continuing my specialization in writing for the games industry, I’m also available on contract for a variety of other writing.  I do consultation work in the IT industry, offering content fulfillment, process documentation, and project management services. See my contact page for information on how to get in touch with me!
